“Your book is not your baby … your book is your business!” Peggy DeKay
DeKay is the author of Self-Publishing for Virgins: The First Time Author’s Guide to Self-Publishing and CEO of Darby Press, LLC. She is also the president of The Business of Writing Today, an indie-publishing consulting service for authors who want to self-publish. As a book coach, podcaster, and seminar leader she has helped hundreds of authors self-publish successfully. Some of her clients have been Top 100 on Amazon, have won the Benjamin Franklin award, and Kentucky Association of School Librarians, and the Axiom Business Book award among others.
Her podcast, The Business of Writing Today podcast, which focuses on self-publishing (downloadable free from iTunes.com or from her website at http://tbowt.com) is heard in over 90 countries. DeKay is a keynote speaker and an expert on indie publishing. She speaks all over the country on topics related to writing, book marketing and promotion, author platform, and indie publishing. She is also the co-host of The Business of Writing International Summit, a writer’s conference held each August in Louisville, Kentucky. This two day event features twenty industry experts presenting over 30 sessions in four tracks: book marketing and promotion, craft of writing, social media, and self-publishing. The conference is attended by authors and writers in dozens of states around the country.
DeKay is a former newspaper columnist and a the executive director of the National Literary Habitat. She is a multi-award winning author with over 100 publications credits.
DeKay is a keynote speaker, seminar leader and workshop facilitator at writer’s conferences, writer’s associations, civic and educational organizations, universities, book fairs, and other events.
